In the name of Allah, the utmost Gracious, the utmost Merciful 🌙
My dear sisters and sisters, As-salamu Alaikum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuh.
Moment, I want to speak unfeignedly from the heart about a matter every Muslim must deeply understand — the Meaning of Shahadah, which is the first pillar of Islam. It is n’t just a judgment we repeat with the lingo, but a evidence that shapes our soul, our life, and our afterlife.
The Meaning of Shahadah — “ La ilaha illallah, Muhammadur Rasulullah ” — declares with certainty that there’s no god but Allah and that Prophet Muhammad ﷺ is His Messenger. This protestation is the entrance into Islam, and it’s also the veritably core of what it means to live as a Muslim.
Numerous of us forget how weighty and beautiful this statement is, especially those who are born into Islam. But the verity is, indeed after taking your shahada, whether as a new or born Muslim, we must keep renewing our understanding of it again and again with reflection and love.
A True Story: The Shahadah Reclaimed
One senior man from my community in India formerly participated his story with me. He’d been born into a Muslim family but had spent decades living a temporal life, far from Islam. After retiring, commodity in his heart turned. He came to the masjid, weeping, and said, “ I want to say the Shahadah again, but this time, with my heart completely present. ”
SubhanAllah this is the true Meaning of Shahadah a deep and living connection with Allah. It is n’t just information about Shahadah, it’s the fire of faith that burns down dubieties and distractions.
He started soliciting again, sluggishly at first, also regularly. He formerly told me, “ After I renewed my Kalimah Shahadah, everything began to feel peaceful — as if Allah was now walking beside me. ”
That’s the power of the first pillar of Islam.
What’s the Alternate Pillar of Islam?
Now let us turn to What’s the alternate pillar of Islam? It’s Salah — the five Muslim diurnal prayers, known in Arabic as Islamic prayer.
This prayer is n’t a burden or a chore; it’s the soul’s aliment and a gift from Allah. Salah in Islam is how we fulfill the pledge of the Shahadah. However, also Salah is how we live that belief five times a day, If the Meaning of Shahadah is believing in Allah alone.
Without Salah, the first pillar of Islam would remain just a proposition. The significance of Salah in Islam is that it protects us from sin, gives us discipline, and strengthens our connection with the Creator.
A Convert’s Journey to Islam and Salah
I flash back one youthful family who embraced Islam during university. He searched online “ Shahada how to come a Muslim ” and watched a videotape on YouTube. He repeated the Shahadah in Arabic with gashes in his eyes.
A few months later, I asked him what helped him stay firm. He said, “It was learning Salah in Islam — that daily structure kept me connected. Without the Muslim daily prayer, I think I would’ve drifted away.”
SubhanAllah. The Islamic prayer is not just a follow-up to the first Shahada, it is its continuation. Every time we stand in prayer, we reaffirm the Meaning of Shahadah in both words and action.
The Divine Origin of Salah
Let me remind you that the Importance of Salah in Islam is rooted in its heavenly origin.
During the miraculous night journey (Isra and Mi’raj), our beloved Prophet ﷺ was gifted the Islamic prayer — directly from Allah. Unlike other commands, this did not come through Jibreel (AS), but was delivered in person.
This alone tells us What is the second pillar of Islam? — it is no ordinary duty; it is a divine appointment.
When we understand the Meaning of Shahadah, we naturally understand why the next step is Salah. And when we perform our Muslim daily prayer with sincerity, we embody the very message of the Shahada Islam English meaning.
A Revert Sister’s Spiritual Awakening
Another touching story comes from a revert sister from the UK. She had spent years feeling spiritually lost. One day, while walking past a masjid, she heard someone softly reciting the Kalimatu Shahada.
Something stirred in her heart. She began researching and found the Kalimat Shahadah in Arabic. She told me, “The moment I read the Kalimah Shahadah, I felt like my soul finally knew its home.”
Today, she teaches new Muslims and reminds them that the Meaning of Shahadah in Islam is more than a sentence — it is a lifestyle, a light, and a love.
Shahadah and Salah on the Day of Judgment
The Prophet ﷺ said, “The first thing a person will be questioned about on the Day of Judgment is their Salah.” Why?
Because it is the mirror of our Shahadah. If we take the Meaning of Shahadah seriously, our prayers will reflect it. If we understand the Meaning of Kalimatu Shahada, we will organize our entire life around it — including how we speak, how we treat others, and how we love Allah.
Live the Shahadah Every Day
My dear brothers and sisters, whether you are a new Muslim saying your new Shahada, or someone born into Islam, remember that Shahada in Islam means to give your heart to Allah every day.
Let it be on your tongue, but also in your actions. Let the Kalimatush Shahada be your morning hope, your evening protection, and your final breath.
Let it shine in your character, echo in your Salah, and bring barakah into your life.
Dua 🌿
May Allah make us firm in the Meaning of Shahadah, allow us to live with it, die with it, and be resurrected with it. Ameen.
